What is meant by the mytho-poetic power of story? What about the Bible? In this episode I discuss different levels or ways of reading the stories of the Bible, including the mythic, where the real power resides. I turn over the Jacob story in an attempt to dive into the mytho-poetic realm. This kind of approach to this story works on the level of transformation, which is what all great stories take us to the edge of. What is true both within and without about being human? Let me know what you think and if there is a story you’d like me to dive into next.

Thank you Kent for your observations. I found the camel story so very refreshing. I heard the story first from audiobook and then your live podcast - has a very different energy in the podcast, almost like a rant at the end - a good thing, because it alludes to the strong emotion that many of us feel having broken out of 'churchyland' and diagnosed ourselves with 'christianityitis'. I find you give words to what I've always questioned. This podcast on the 'seeing' very much reminds me of the gospel of Mary Magdalene, where she says this refrain 'let him who has ear to hear'. Thank you you are helping me start to make a bit of sense now and then, I recently painted the icon of st Francis with him in the darkness of the desert because I wanted to 'understand the darkness more'. Blessings sue
